Our Commitment

We believe that training in the martial arts should be safe, enjoyable, inclusive and maximise individual participation. CMAA acknowledges that positive experiences in training as a child will contribute to children developing a lifelong love of martial arts, sports and fitness.

What We Will Do

• Emphasise to instructors that junior training is about participation and not competition.
• Modify training methods where possible to include children and young people of all abilities and encourage their participation.
• Provide junior students with a broad range of experiences, encouraging fitness and learning self defence skills.
• We will focus on building confidence and physical co-ordination through foundational martial art techniques and movements.
• We will foster core values of respect, self-discipline and focus in a fun and approachable way.
• We will provide a learning environment that is fun, engaging and sociable.

What We Ask You To Do

Instructors:

• We ask our Instructors to promote participation and self reflection, with an emphasis on being better than you were yesterday, not about being better than others.
• We ask the Instructors to ensure that all Junior students get equal opportunity and Instructor attention to ensure the best outcomes for all students.

Parents:

• We ask parents to ensure they arrive at least 10 mins prior to the class start time. This allows sufficient preparation time before class to complete the iPad check in process, bathroom visit and prepare gear for class well before it is time to get on the mat. This ensures maximum focus and attention to learning.
• We ask parents to focus on your own child’s development and not compare them to others.
• Encourage children to always put in their best effort and focus on the skills being learned over stripes.
• Do not coach from the sidelines, allow Instructor and Leadership Team to manage the mat and run the class.
• If/when asked by an Instructor to intervene or assist in any way we ask for the parents prompt response.
